Star Rover Romps Home at Gansett Odds-on Choice Beats Pilot Model Breezes to Wire in Eden Park Purse Four and Half Lengths In Front; 7,767 View Card By FRED GALIANI NARRAGANSETT PARK, Pawtucket, R. I., June 8. — Apprentice Mickey Thomas had a nice airing on Mrs. Irving Gushens Star Rover in the featured Eden Park Purse today, spending most of his time in the stretch glancing over his shoulder for non-developing opposition. Star Rover, the odds-on choice, one of the top three-year-olds on the grounds, if not the best, breezed home over six similar aged opponents by four and a half lengths. • Mrs. R. V. Robidoues Pilot Model, an improved and consistent refugee from the claiming ranks, finished second, while it was another four and a half lengths back to W. C. Pricketts Kakuza Ridge. Star Rover paid .00 to his supporters in the chilled and wind-swept throng of 7,767 who turned out on an overcast afternoon that was more typical of an autumn day. Third Victory This Year The winner, a gray son of .Flushing n. — Miss Moonbeam, bred by Irving Gushen, was winning his third start in seven attempts this season. Pilot Model, a fast -running sort, was unable to get to the lead, but easily was best of the others. Kakuza Ridge came from last place to finish third, moving as they neared the far turn and picking up A minus show pool on the feature was caused and the track had to get up 35.34 to make up the difference.
