Nashua Works 1 1-8 Miles In 1:51 Between Races Shows High Speed in Final Prep For Saturdays Dwyer Stakes AQUEDUCT, L. I., N. Y., June 27. Bel-air Studs eastern three -year-old cham-pon, Nashu came on the track for an extended tri after todays second race and though there was sharp disagreement among dockers ooncerning the time for the mile and a furlong, all agreed that it was a remarkable effort. Daily Racing Forms head clocker, Gene Schwartz, caught the big son of Nasrullah in 1:51, just a second and a fifth slower than Paper Tiger required in winning Saturdays Edgemere Handicap, while the association timer, Willie Knapp, had the colt a second faster. Since several watches caught the mile in 1:38, the slower time seems considerable more plausible. Eddie Arcaro was astride Nashua and tapped him sharply with his whip as he broke off at the furlong pole in front of the stands. Arcaro roused Nashua at responding willingly to get the next quarter in :24. Arcaro used his whip lightly at the eighth pole and again at the sixteenth pole in the stretch as Nashua appeared inclined to bear out a little, then eased him up a mile and a quarter in 2:06.
