CHANTER, always formidable, rallied when urged but was not good enough THE SPANIEL rallied when roused to enpage the leader, then was unable to respond further. MODEST JOHN lacked the needed late response. BOFUS, hard held while racing prominently, flattened cut when set down for the drive. JUNIORS FIRST set the pace ?nd gave way. ROYAL STRAIGHT was a factor to tlie furlong pole and proved no match for the winner. CLEVER DEFENSE held the advantage after a half and weakened. CAROLINA REX failed to threaten. NATCHEZ MAID was sore. BEAUION could not keep pace. ONE TEAR flattened out badly after setting the early pace. MOWLEESHA was throuoh early. CUB SCOUT WAS WITHDRAWN WHEN REPORTED LAfF UPON ARRIVING AT THE STARTING POINT.
