ThistleDown Marathon Is Week-End Attraction Two-Mile Jaunt With 0,000 in Purse Money Invitational Affair THISTLEDOWN, North Randall, Ohio, June 27. The 0,000 ThistleDown Marathon, one of the turfs most unusual events, will be run at this track on Saturday. One of the richest races to be offered this year for horses who have started in a claiming event, the Marathon will draw a field picked from the best of the local routers and stars from other tracks. A two-mile jaunt, the week-end feature at this Cleveland course, is an invitational affair for which there are no entry or starting fees. Weights will scale downwards from 122 pounds and will be released by racing secretary Fred Burton late Monday. will be chosen from the following thoroughbreds who have been campaigning here: Echo Rock, Trigger Man, Baroda Boy, Beguile and Marthas Wave. The last named mare recently set a new track record for one mile and a half here. Matched against the above runners will be at least eight who will come here from tracks in other states. So far, the owners of these horses have been contacted; Mills-pal, Avon Lady, Tippity Witch, and Mr. Jones from New York; Pusan from New England, Pacoy from Canada, Chicle II. from Chicago, Heres Colina, Tomi Blu and Sir Chatter from Detroit. In the last start Tomi Blu set a twelve-furlong track . mark. Rounding out the holiday week-end schedule will be a nine race program on Monday. Top attraction on that afternoon will be the ,500 added Ohio Endurance Stakes for juveniles. With 71 nominees in this event and most of them on the grounds, racing secretary Fred Burton may have to run the stakes in two ?Tfioirtro . . . . - - - - - - :
