Top Sophomores Clash At Fonner Park Today O-Ki Takes on Nosey Josey and Valquestin in Semi-Final Card By DEAN WILLIAMS Staff Correspondent FONNER PARK, Grand Island, Nebr., May 11. — Tuesday signals the final phase of the highly successful meeting, which closes with Wednesdays presentation the Fonner Park Mile. Dwight Clums O-Ki, Luella Schoens Valquestin, and Ken Gastons Nosey Josey are scheduled to meet in Tuesdays three-year-old feature, the Grand Island Saddle Club Purse. The trackss top sophomores will meet under allowance conditions at 6 furlongs. The trio have faced each other on several occasions with a varying degree of success each time. O-Ki was a long-priced winner in theirmost recent encounter. The son of Gallahadion and Kapi came from far off of the pace under jockey Grady Overton to defeat Nosey Josey a head at the wire. Valquestin finished fourth in that three-year-old handicap, beaten a length and one half. Nosey Josey and Valquestin met early in the meeting and the latter proved her ability at a long price by coming from behind to defeat Very Truly and Nosey Josey. The hard-running three-year-olds have gained a following off of their fine showings and are certain to make the race highly entertaining for local patrons. Those scheduled to face the highly regarded trio are: Reshare, Sang Bleu, Blue Beth, Queenashare, and Dr. Cat. Reshare and Queenashare will race as the C. D. Alexander entry.
