Our Bolero Makes Good In Beulah Park Opener Whips Miss Finesco by Length; Pogey Dies During Second Race By A. L. SHIELDS Staff Correspondent BEULAH PARK, Grove City, Ohio, May 11. D. and W. Ruffs Our Bolero, the daring of the majority of the 3,600 fans on hand, overtook B. W. Reays front-running Miss Finesco to score by a length in- the first race here Monday. F. Merrys Outsider, Shrewie, was third, five lengths farther back. The five-year-old Bolero — Miss Boots gelding paid .80 after being timed in 1:15 for the six-furlong dash contested over a slow track. Our Bolero was ridden by Paul Herron, who broke him in good order, and was never more than two lengths off the pacemaker, Miss Finesco. When the field of 12 rounded into the stretch, the front-runner tired and Our Bolero was on the outside under full steam and going away at the wire. The Daily Double was completed when R. Jockey Donald Tobin, sensing his mount was in distress, used riding ability of a high order when he guided the stricken mount out of the path of the oncoming field. It was later disclosed that Pogey suffered a hemorrahge.
