OFF AT 2:01 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good. Won driving. AEROJET worked his way up while on the outside in the last quarter and outfinished ANY STAR in the final stride. The latter moved into the lead entering the backstretch, set the pace to the last few yards and then gave way under pressure. AGOURA CALL, slow to settle in the muddy gcing, closed a wide gap in the final quarter while between horses. ADMIRAL CHARLIE raced close to the pace while on the outside and held on gamely. MISS GRISSIM was never prominent. MISS JILL failed to reach contention. BRIDLEWOOD was eased in the last furlong when he refused to extend himself. The latter was never far off the leaders from the start and finished fast on the outside, gaining on the winner in the closing strides. NORMAS STAR forced the pace to the stretch and then weakened. TOP DUDE gave ap even performance and had no mishap. DEAR JOHN moved up fast in the last quarter after being slow to settle. LAND-O-ZEVE gave way in the last quarter. FIDELITY took command on the clubhouse turn while racing on the outside and drew out steadily in the final quarter under mild urging. MR. BELDINE, slow to settle in the muddy going, made up a lot of ground in the last quarter while on the inside and finished gamely but was no threat to the winner. ROSY INNING closed with a belated rush while on the outside. TRIP had speed to the stretch and then weakened. SUDDEN LAMAR forced the pace to the last quarter and then gave way. SIDE WIND slipped through between horses when the leaders swung wide turning for home and drew away steadily in the final sixteenth. KARENS PAL had the lead early, swung wide entering the stretch and came again while on the outside but was unable to make up lost ground. MERGING TRAFFIC closed fast after getting straightened out in the stretch. IMA BARGAIN was close to the pace from the start but was wide entering the stretch. CORPUS KID failed to rally after going wide on the turn. MILE WAS SCRATCHED AT THE POST BY THE VETERINARIAN AND ALL MONEY WAGERED ON HIM WAS REFUNDED. FREDRICA raced closest to the winner from the beginning and held on gamely. CLOSE HARMONY moved up on the last quarter while saving ground. CLASSIC RED failed to improve position. EYE PATCH was slow to settle, closed steadily while saving ground in the last quarter and got up in the final sixteenth. OUR TRIBE moved up fast while between horses on the stretch turn and finished strongly. COLONEL PATCH raced very wide on the far turn and closed strongly on the outside when straightened out in the stretch. TRU BLU LU moved out fast in the first quarter to take command, set the pace throughout, was bothered slightly a sixteenth out when the fast-closing RUNNING WOLF bore in, and then near the finish came out slightly herself, but under strong handling, was able to outlast the latter. RUNNING WOLF raced close to the winner from the beginning, moved up on the outside in the stretch, drifted, causing slight interference to the winner, and was then interferred with near the wire. DUKE OF NOOR gave an even performance while on the inside. NURSE GINNY closed fast on the inside. FABULIST was never prominent. SIDE LIGHT tired. The stewards conducted an inquiry into the running of the race and, after viewing the film patrol pictures, decided that the first two horses were equally at fault and "the numbers were allowed to stand as originally posted.
