Roman War Seeking Third Straight at River Downs Rates Oyer Pipit, Heligat and Commotion in Sophomore Sprint By W. A. CRUSE RIVER DOWNS, Cincinnati, Ohio, June 5. The Cincinnati Rotary Club Purse will feature Thursdays eight - race program and eight classy three-year-olds will match strides in this seventh event at five and one-half furlongs. Roman War, a hard hitting gelding who is owned and conditioned by Doug Davis Jr., of Lexington, Ky., heads the group and may be the public choice come post time. The swift son of Roman Sandal will be seeking .his third victory at River Downs and may be capable of the task. His pair of winners at the current session were achieved in convincing fashion and he is presently in fine fettle. - Pipit, racing in the silks of Fulcher and Polizzi, is accorded a high rating and may play the role of chief contender. This Double Jay filly accounted for the Seven Hills Purse at the Queen City course a week ago covering the six panels in 1:15 and is likely to travel a bit faster in tomorrows test. Forrest Kaelin, who has been riding with considerable success at the meeting, will handle the reins. Commotion, who performs in the colors of Sydney I. Crew, the Ohio contractor, cannot be ignored and may go well against Thursdays competition. The Commodore Lea offspring finished second to the shifty Brownie Lady in the Cincinnati Athletic Club Purse and merits consideration on the strength of that effort. Heligat, a newcomer to River Downs and who belongs to J. L. Arnold has been framing satisfactorily since her arrival. She could offer some stiff competition and jockey.Gil Roser may enhance her chances. Super Wise, the M. K. Essig color bearer, could upset on a tip-top effort. This colt won an allowance test at Beulah Park a week ago -and is in good form. Sea Rebel, owned by D. L. and W. D. White, was unplaced in the Seven Hills
