Dick Welles7 Selections SelectionsAt At Churchill Downs TYX TAUDLAXE UP SHE GOES GOESThe The opening race brings together a bad band of sprinters with almost any one of them liable to score On recent workouts PYX appears to hold a slight edge how ¬ ever He was a fair racer over the Cana ¬ dian circuit last year and if he has returned to that form should be the winner here TAUDLANE was given a race the other day and he showed up pretty well for he finished a bangup second to Ada Blackjack On the strength of that showing he should do as well today UP SHE GOES is strictly a fast track performer and that accounts for her poor showing in her last race With a return to firm footing think she will be close up at the finish SANDALWOOD may go well enough to get a piece of the money moneyMISS MISS CniXIQUY MAJOE CANDY ROCK ROCKMISS MISS CHINIQUY looks best of the maiden twoyearolds that will parade post ward for the second race Both of her starts have been over a muddy course and it is thought that she will show to much better advantage today with a fast racing strip prevailing MAJOE figures next best bas ¬ ing on her New Orleans form She was close up in many of her races there and she too should be benefited by the fast track Her breeding is of high order and she is bound to be heard from once she finds her racing legs CANDY ROCK showed a decided improvement in her last race and judging from that effort may be able to save the show here LADY PENNANT could take a portion of the purse were she in the same form as she displayed in her first start startBELOXI BELOXI EAGER PAT CALHOUX CALHOUXThe The Tampa sensation BELZONI looks like a good play in the third over the mile and a sixteenth distance At the Florida course he proved most consistent winning his last three races as well as some before that If he has retained his winter form there is really nothing in the race that should bother him The Maryland campaigner EAGER should be the one to score providing BEL ZONI is not equal to the task He didnt do much in a winning way but was always close up in his races He looks like a sure thing to place at least PAT CALHOUN came back to the races this year with a vengeance His two starts to date found him the winner in each He meets up with a little better grade of competition today but should be good enough to save the show showEDEX EDEX GAY HALLIE MELTING STAR STARIn In the Anchorage Purse to be run as the fourth the Whitney color bearer EDEN is many points the best She was not quite ready at the Miami meeting but in her first start at Lexington she showed her true form and stuck it out long enough to be winner GAY HALLIE should be the one to give EDEN the most trouble basing on her New Orleans racing Since being sent north she hasnt done much but her last race showed some improvement The first time starter 1 MELTING STAR isa reported crack and may upset the figures In her trials she did everything asked of her and in a most convincing manner too If she were to race to her works she would prove dangerous company and should at least get the show money in the race raceXAVEEX XAVEEX BUCK SPAXISH LAY LAYThe The fifth race brings out the best perform ¬ ers of the day and is the carded feature It is called the Crescent Hill Purse and here we are picking LAVEEN to be the winner The former Goldblatt racer which now car i ries the colors of L T Cooper is said to be I in rare form and should prove best here She ran a fairly good race in her first appear ¬ ance here this spring to take third money That race should have done her much good i and we will be very much surprised if she I does not score The main contention in the race should come from the Croissant racer i BUCK He had a busy campaign last win j ter and since arriving here has been started once when he finished outside the money In this race he figures to be closer up and should take the place money SPANISH LAY gets in with ninetyseven pounds and at the weight looks best to save the place end of the purse SUPERFRANK would be dangerous should he race to his Miami form formRUTH RUTH GOLD BOOKBIXDER MARY KIXKEAD KIXKEADA A real good play is spotted in the sixth in RUTH GOLD from the Chula Vista Stable She has done most of her racing over the Tijuana course where she more than held her own She is only to carry ninetyfour pounds and at that weight looks like she has more than an even chance of scoring BOOKBINDER ran one of his poor races his last out but can do much better At Miami he was always close up and managed to win a few purses If he were to race to that form would be able to land the place money MARY KINKEAD is rapidly rounding to winning form and is the threat of the race Her chances for getting at least a portion of the purse looks good Of the others DISCI ¬ PLE seems to be the best bestBROAD BROAD AXE XTRA LADY LYXX LYXXOne One of the largest fields of the day is scheduled to go to the post in the concluding race on the card BROAD AXE showed such improvement in his last start that we are inclined to believe that he will be good enough here to get home the winner In his last out he raced well throughout and hung on long enough to get the show money XTRAS last race was a good one and a like effort would find her again getting the place She is to carry many pounds more than in her last start but even at that is in light LADY LYNN turned in one win ¬ ning performance at Lexington and on the strength of that showing should be close up here PRODIGAL is partial to the muddy going but may be good enough to horn in the money at the finish One Best Bet LAVEEN in Fifth Race
