1 J MARES COME FROM ENGLAND Two Purchased for the Howe Stable Will Go to Kentucky to Be Bred Next Spring. NEW YORK, N. Y., Oct. 11. Two mares purchased abroad by the Howe stable arrived at Belmont Park following an uneventful trip on the steamship American Banker from London. They were selected by Major Thomas McCreery and will be shipped to Lexington, Ky., to enter the stud and be bred next spring. The mares are: Double Dutch, bay mare foaled 1922, by Bachelors Double, from Marvel of Peru, by Spearmint, from Miranda, by Gallinule, from Admiration, the dam of the great mare Pretty Polly. Double Dutch is dam of Deaconess, a stake winner, and Blatter, also a winner, her only produce to race. She is in foal to Prince Galahad, which is sire of forty-seven winners this year. Saxe, chestnut mare, foaled 1924 by Ver-wood, from Susie, by Negofol, from Saxonne, by Velasquez, from Shrine, a daughter of the great producer, Pilgrimage. Saxe i3 dam of Saxenden, a good winner and her only produce to race. She is in foal to Mr. Jinks, a sterling of Tetratema.
