FIELD FOR THE CESAREWITCH Twenty-Seven Named to Contest in Famous English Race to Be Run Today. Special Cablegram. LONDON, England, Oct. 11. The Cesare-witch Stakes Handicap, to be run tomorrow over the straight two miles and a quarter Newmarket course, is the most open in many years, as attested by the liberal odds of 100 to 9 tendered against the choice, Lord Roseberys St. Leger winner, Sandwich, and D. S. Kennedys Irish Oaks winner, Nitzi-chin. They are among the top weights and on their Doncaster Cup meeting are closely matched. A well backed third choice in this stake is Sir Abe Baileys Blandeama, 100 to 7, and he is confidently expected to give the South African diamond magnate and sportsman his second victory, his silks having been borne successfully by the great distance racer, Son-in-Law, in 1915. Another well played and well fancied candidate is Montague Evans Blue Vision, 100 to 6, and the five-year-old son of Etheric has only to race back to his best efforts of last year to be a dangerous contender. However, the best handicapped horse in this stake is H. J. Simms Gainslaw, a three-year-old son of Winalot. His two recent races in the St. Leger and Jockey -Club Stakes points him out as somewhat of a blot on this handicap with only 100 pounds to carry. It seems that only a competent ride is necessary to make him win. It is probably on this score and a doubt about Gainslaws going the extra distance of the Cesarewitch course that makes him 20 to 1 in the betting. The same odds are tendered against the chances of Jesse Browns Son of Mint, third in this stake last year and a forward contender in most of his races this season, and Mrs. C. J. Robinsons Chester Cup winner, Bonny Brighteyes. The Cesarewitch field is as follows: Sandwich, 131; Nitsichin, 121; Son of Mint, 117; Sigirl, 112; Pasokee, 111; Blue Vision, 109; Sandals Lady, 109; Bonny Brighteyes, 107; West Wicklow, 107; Roi de Paris, 107; R. B. Bennett, 106; Mandritsara, 103; Blandearna, 102; Sandy Lashes, 101; Gainslaw, 100; Fire-away, 98; Air Pocket, 96; Joyous Greeting, 95; Tor Captain, 95; Saphir. 94; Popotte II., 93; Chelmarsch, 92; Boldero, 92; Macs Choice, 92; Manbo, 91; Claymore, 91; Prince Oxenden, 101.
