GERMAN ST. LEGER RESULT The German St. Leger, decided at Hamburg-Horn September 18, resulted in a shortlived victory for Herr Oppenheimers Mio dArezzo, which reached the judges in front only to be disqualified for bumping and boring. The race was awarded to Herr Herd-tags Wilderich. Mio dArezzo, by Laland son of Fels, champion of last years two-year-olds, had previously finished second in the German Derby to Wilderhall, son of Prunus and Waffe, acknowledged champion three-year-old in the Fatherland. The disqualification of . Mio dArezzo in the St. Leger is one of the rare instances of a classic race result being disturbed. In the long history of the English classics only two disqualifications occurred in the Derby. In 1844 the winner, Running Rein, proved to be a four-year-old, and in 1913 the stewards, on their own initiative, disqualified Craganour for bumping and boring. In the St. Leger Stakes in 1789 the winner was disqualified for jostling. In the Oaks, 1918, Stony Ford finished first, but was disqualified for bumping and boring. No disqualifications have marked the. French classics, nor the American classics, tie Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes and Preakness Stakes.
