NO PURSE LESS THAN 00 j AT JEFFERSON PARK COLLINSVILLE, 111., Oct. 11. According to announcement today by Robert S. Eddy, Jr., general manager of Jefferson Park, the minimum purse will be 00 for the long winter meeting that commences Thanksgiving Day and continues to January 21. The stellar attractions will be the Thanksgiving Handicap, the Christmas and New Years Handicaps, and possibly a race for three-year-olds. In addition to these head-liners, there will be Saturday and mid-week features that should attract the best from the handicap division. Mr. Eddy said: "Never before have I received as many applications from the leading stables of the country for stall accommodations at Jefferson Park and I firmly believe that Jefferson Park will offer the best brand of racing in the history of the plant. Naturally, I will be forced to turn down many requests for stall room, but horsemen that have raced at Jefferson Park in the past will be given every consideration. "Included among the applicationse for several from the leading eastern stables, as well as many from those stables that have been in the limelight during the Chicago season. With Havana opening late this year and the regular Miami season not starting until January, Jefferson Park will have the cream of the winter racers. Julius Reeder is now at work on the first condition book of the meeting and I hope to have them ready to be distributed among the horsemen before the close of this meeting."
