VACATION FOR MATA HARI DETROIT Mich June 26 Mata Hari winner of the Illinois Derby and Oaks re ¬ turned to Detroit this morning The daugh ¬ ter of Peter Hastings and War Woman ap ¬ peared none the worse from her journey here and her recent conquest in the Oaks but trainer Clyde Van Dusen is going to give her a much needed rest Since Febru ¬ ary 1 the C T Fisher filly has withstood a continued training and racing grind that has called upon her to meet her brothers in the Kentucky Illinois American and De ¬ troit Derbys That she is far above the aver ¬ age of the present day members of her sex is well attested by the great showing she has made If only called upon to meet those of her sex no doubt her seasons record would have been unblemished Van Dusen plans on returning her to training in late summer and she will be ready for an autumn campaign
