QUALIFIES FOR BROOKLYN Dark Secret Demonstrates He is Ready for Famous Race Romps to Victory Over War Glory and andMountain Mountain Elk in Beach Purse Aqu Aquducts ducts Main Race NEW YORK N Yt June 26 The Wheat ley Stables Dark Secret qualified for his engagement in the Brooklyn Handicap when he was an easy winner of the Beach Purse at Aqueduct today It was a gallop of a mile and the son of Flying Ebony was in nicely when only asked to take up 124 pounds equal weights with War Glory and Mountain Elk while in the Brooklyn he was handicapped at eight pounds better than the Riddle fouryearold By his victory Dark Secret incurred a penalty of three pounds making his weight 126 pounds in the Brooklyn but he still seems to be in that old prize exceedingly well wellDark Dark Secret was an easy winner and the manner of his victory left no doubt of his being back to his best form and it must be remembered that he defeated Equipoise in The Jockey Club Gold Cup last year yearIn In this mile race he was outrun to the stretch and when Kurtsinger shook him up he took the lead with ease and finished in a fashion to suggest a readiness to gallop along for another quarter or half mile if it had been required requiredThis This was the one race that prevented the racing from being deadly dull though the hurdle race furnished something of a thrill The weather conditions were ideal and the crowd one of goodly size sizeOnly Only three started against Dark Secret the other not already mentioned being Mor ¬ ton Schwartz Identify IdentifyThe The start was a good one and while Dark Secret was first out of the stalls he was at once headed by Identify and War Glory Then going to the first turn Identify came over on the son of Flying Ebony and Kurt singer was forced to take up This made him last of the four as Mountain Elk moved past him himWith With that misfortune next to the rail Kurt singer was not to be trapped again and for the remainder of the race he kept the Wheatley horse well out in the track Then Wan Glory as was to be expected caught Identify to go into a lead of a couple of lengths Identify was tiring but Kurtsinger was riding Dark Secret confidently and had not asked him to fully extend himself A furlong from the finish Dark Secret moved into second place and as he did Gilbert went to a drive on War Glory but it was of no avail and Kurtsinger had only to sit still to have Dark Secret gallop past him and be the winner by three lengths War Glory was six lengths before Identify which in turn just beat Mountain Elk by a length lengthThe The Greentree Stables Jungle Dawn showed marked improvement when he was winner of the hurdle race over one mile and a half His previous race was utterly de ¬ void of speed but today he had plenty and going into command early in the race was never headed Whitney Stones Wrackon took second place and S A Warner Bal tazzis White Lightning beat Foray for third thirdAfter After the finish Dawson who rode Wrackon lodged a claim of foul against Jungle Dawn but it was not allowed In the running the winner appeared to have bothered Wrackon slightly but there was no really apparent reason for disturbing the order of the finish finishTen Ten started and as Jungle Dawn moved away to make the pace Wrackon followed him and for a time K G was in third place and just showing the way to Indian Mes ¬ sage which was starting for the first time over hurdles Chalice was well up while White Lightning was a bit slower to reach a racing stride and then he was taken wide on the turn turnSwinging Swinging into the back field Collins per ¬ mitted Jungle Dawn to open up a lead of three lengths on his company but Wrackon held to second place and as K G dropped back Aries for an instant moved into con + ention Indian Message had suffered some interference but he was still in the front division and saving ground groundIt It was at the upper end of the field that Foray moved up There Indian Message was dropping back as was K G and White Lightning was unable to close on the lead ¬ ers By this time Collins was asking Jungle Dawn for his best and Wrackon was hang ¬ ing to him doggedly In this fashion they came to the last hurdle and Jungle Dawn went over slightly but there was no actual interference interferenceIt It was a driving finish and Jungle Dawn was still a length to the good at the line When too late White Lightning moved up to take third but he was four lengths back of Wrackon WrackonAs As he did Monday Coucci rode the first winner when he brought home Joseph M Roeblings filly Quivira in a five furlongs dash for maiden juveniles She won by a goodly margin with Miss A Pendergasts Second Guess outgaming Mrs E A Burks Recital for second place while Rust beat the others othersCoucci Coucci rushed the winner away from her stall to take an instant lead and she never was headed Going to the elbow of the course she bore out a bit and later she swerved in sharply but at the time she was clear of the field and her erratic course did not bother anything else in the field fieldBack Back of Quivira there was considerable crowding at the elbow and Recital running along no the inside met with rather serious interference that cost him some ground At the end Second Guess was going well but was probably second by reason of the inter ¬ ference suffered by Recital Quivira was winner by five lengths while Second Guess had only beaten Recital half a length with Rust a close fourth fourthDuring During the fall meeting at Belmont Park a day will be set aside on which disabled soldiers and sailors at Long Island hospitals will be guests of the management The prime mover in having the day set aside was Bill Warneke a World War veteran The stewards ordered that Mrs Jesberg ers Jamison be scratched from the fifth race Tuesday The horse was suspended pending investigation after His last race in which ne raced poorly
