MELOY began well, was mildly restrained and, coming through at the head of the stretch, responded gamely and outlasted STEFAN JR. The latter, fractious at the post, began in motion, bore out at the head of the stretch and held on well. CRAIGCO moved up with a rush on the turn, only to tire in the drive. MAEANTIC challenged gamely alter half a mile, then tired. ALEETA stumbled soon after the start and fell.
