PRO BONO FINALLY SCORES Successful at Charles Town for First Time When He Defeats Dark Vision. CHARLES TOWN, W. Va., July 3.— The St. Marks Purse, a claiming affair at seven furlongs, brought together the best field at Charles Town today and provided F. Preeoes Pro Bono with the opportunity to capture his first race at the meeting. Coming from behind the pace, Pro Bono led heme the favorite, Dark Vision, by a length and a half at the finish. Three additional lengths back This Play was third before Worthington. Modern Times and Justa Moment completed the field and finished as named. It was Dark Vision that had speed to go to the front in the run for the first turn, while Pro Bono had been last to leave the stalls. Settled on the back stretch Pro Bono moved into fourth place, where he was permitted a respite. Approaching the far turn the eventual winner was sent after Dark Vision and, moving up quickly on the outside, drew abreast the leader. Slowly Pro Bono wore Dark Vision down to take a short lead entering the stretch. From that point the winner was gradually drawing away. Another good attendance was on hand to witness the days card, and again the weather man favored with clear skies and a fast track.
