SMALL MORTGAGE went to the front soon after the start and, showing good speed, was never in serious danger, winning handily. DELINE BANK raced close up next to the rail "in the early part, but swerved Hearing the finish to interfere with MAY RAP and was disqualified. MAY RAP was in trouble in the early running, but finished well despite interference. BROWN IDYLL was badly outrun early, but was going strongly at the end. MR. FAIR TIME, always within striking distance of the leaders, came fast to save much ground after leaving the back stretch and, coming to the outside of the early leaders in the run home, got to the front in the last fifty yards and bested SARAGON. The latter made a strong move on the inside in the stretch run, but was in close quarters in the last eighth. DUNDREARY, outrun early, closed with a rush and would have won in a few more strides. ROSSER S. tired in the stretch. BELL RAP was done after going four and a half furlongs. BANKER CONARD could not keep up. HYMETTUS lacked speed at all times. THIRD RACE 5 1-2 FURLONGS. HARRY FRANK sprinted to the front soon after the start and, after holding a short lead to the stretch, drew out, but was being ridden out at the finish. ELECTRIC GAFF was slow to get going and was in close quarters approaching the stretch turn, but closed fastest of all. DODIE was in close quarters on the far turn and made up ground thereafter to finish well. STUART PLAID displayed good early speed and held on fairly well. CAN ELE was in close quarters and, lacking early speed, was forced to race wide on the stretch turn and was never dangerous. NOTIFY and SOCIETY TALK could not keep up in the early running. TASSAJARA, showing improvement ovor recent efforts, went to the front early and, racing MOON ROSE Into submission, had enough left at the end to hold ANAPOLA. The latter came fast in the stretch, and, gaining rapidly, would have won in a few more strides. NAPPUS showed a return to form and was going well at the finish. MOON ROSE had early speed, but tired. ROLLING WHEELS was in close quarters while saving ground approaching the stretch turn and tired under his weight. LOB1TOS loomed up dangerously on the outside approaching the stretch turn, but faltered in the final drive. Overweight Bebest, 2 pounds. FIFTH RACE 4 1-2 FURLONGS. CALAVERAS followed the pace closely after breaking quickly and raced well to the end. ORRA was slow to get going and was forced to race to the middle of the track on the stretch turn, but closed fast and gamely. VALIANT FOX made up some ground and showed a creditable effort. FRESNO tired near the end. MARCLEAVE, although seeming a trifle outclassed, raced fairly well. INA DEAR could not keep up.
