ARLINGTON DOWNS STEWARDS Investigate Rumors About Two Horsemen, Also a Certain Race, and Issue Statement. ARLINGTON, Texas, April 10. Judge J. A. Murpby, director of racing, issued the following statement this afternoon: "The stewards of the Arlington Downs race track have finished investigating current rumors that the stables of Ray Pollard and Ed Haughton were being financed and controlled by a prominent handbook man of Dallas. Both horsemen were before the stewards and disavowed absolutely any connection with the party whose name has been linked with them and stated that the stables were being financed and controlled absolutely by themselves. The stewards are satisfied that there is no truth in the rumors. Mr. Pollard also disavowed any connection with any purported betting activities on High Bottom in its last race and stated that he had only a modest wager on the horse. The horse has been laid up since last fall, and its race, he contended, was merely the improvement which a horse would show after its first start after so long a rest. "The stewards also looked carefully into some rumors that had been circulated in .respect to the race of Too Busy in the sixth race Tuesday. Dr. Brock was instructed to take a saliva test of the horse, and the result will be awaited by the stewards. They investigated the, betting angles of the race and could find nothing unusual in them, but still have the matter under investigation."
