1 BOWIE TURF NOTES S - s Fourteen of Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitneys string, including Today and Mister Gander, candidates for the Kentucky Derby, reached Havre de Grace late Wednesday from Lexington, Ky. Don Cameron, trainer for Walter E. OHaras Araho Stable has decided to ship Howard, New Deal and others in his care over to Havre de Grace, which ushers in the second lap of Marylands spring session at 2:30 p. m. Monday. Jockey "Red" Pollard, who will accompany the Araho Stable, will be handled by "Animal Jack" Carter. There are eight horses on the schooling list with the adding of Revonah and Scotch Soldier. Steeplechase jockey Henry Little arrived from New Orleans. He will start schooling jumpers next week. The five horses that Charlie Meister had at Pimlico were vanned to Havre de Grace Wednesday. Bill Merion has made arrangements to van twelve horses from here, Thursday, to Pimlico. J. M. Eliason, former trainer for J. C. White, was an arrival from California. His horses were sent on to Belmont Park, New York. Willie Daly, who came here to interest horsemen in the forthcoming meeting at Charles Town, W. Va., stated that a thirty day session would be held from May 13 to June 15, inclusive. The first seven "Daily Doubles" of fered here saw 14,564 wagered, with 2,504 fans holding winning tickets The 65.10 paid on opening day was the largest winning ticket, while the 3.00 pay on April 6 was the smallest. Fari-mutuel manager Mahony looks for a new record to result on Saturdays play, that is if the track gets fast.
