Greely, trainer of the Shandon Farm Stable, stated that Sisowen pulled up decidedly lame after her last race at Bowie and that the filly would be on the shelf for a considerable period. Robert Steele, who died from a ruptured appendix contracted en route from Oaklawn Park to Nashville, Tenn., was interred Monday morning in his native city, Philadelphia, Pa. Steele was employed during the Oak-lawn Park meeting on the ground staff of starter William Hamilton, and at various times served in the same capacity for George Palmer and James F. Milton. Before engaging in race track employment, Steele played professional football. Jockey Sam Renick was slightly injured in a motor accident en route to the Sagamore Farm of Alfred G. Vanderbilt on Monday morning when his car collided with another at Park Heights Avenue and Cold Spring Lane in the Worthington Valley. Renicks car was badly damaged, but fortunately the rider escaped unharmed and he was able to accept his mounts at Havre de Grace. According to advices reaching here from Pimlico, a tempting offer was refused for the promising two-year-old Bay Buddy, in the stable of William Elders Merriland Farm. Charles J. McLennan was notified that T. D. Grimes is shipping the good two-year-old Billie Bane from Arlington Downs to fulfill his engagement in the Aberdeen Stakes. Billie Bane was winner of the Juvenile Stakes at the Waggoner track. Herman P. Conkling was an arrival from Arlington Downs to take his place in the stewards stand at Havre de Grace. Matt L. Daiger, secretary of the Maryland Jockey Club, was an interested spectator Monday. His mission was to interest horsemen in the stakes for the Pimlico meeting that closed Monday. Edward J. Brennan was circulating among the horsemen with stable applications for the forthcoming meeting at Pimlico. A. L. Aste arrived from New York to inspect the horses of his ownership that are in charge of Fred Kraft. Jimmy Wallace of Baltimore is making the riding engagements for the 100 pound apprentice, Joe Leonard, and Joe OMalley. Sid Trenchard, who won ten races in thirty-two tries at Hot Springs, is an arrival and will ride for Yancey Christmas, of Upper Marlborough. Nick Tromberio of Baltimore has hung up his riding tack and will gallop horses for Preston Burch, who handles the Jeffords horses. It is reported that A. G. Vanderbilt paid the B. B. Stable ,500 for Good Harvest, one that placed to Evergold in Bowies closing feature. George Ogle is said to be dickering for the services of jockey J. Lynch, who is under contract to Paul Ratti. Jockey Eddie Barnes was an arrival from Miami. Bobby Jones, who was injured Saturday at Bowie, came here and then departed for New York. Bill Hurley states that Black Helen, winner of the Florida Derby, shipped nicely and is a likely starter in the ,500 Chesapeake , Saturday. "Irish" Jimmy Stewart has seven horses in training, the majority having wintered in this state.
