Their presence increases interest in training activities among the Derby horses at the scene of the big 0,000 mile and a quarter battle. -William Irvine, who so successfully handled the horses of the late Sylvester W. Labrot, is considering an offer to train for a wealthy Canadian patron. Eight stakes, headed by the 5,000 added Latonia Derby, will be renewed during the thirty-seven days of spring and early summer racing at. Latonia, according to announcement made here today. The Latonia Jockey Clubs meeting is scheduled to start on Saturday, May 25, a week after the close here. Other fixtures to be renewed are the Inaugural Handicap, Independence Handicap, Enquirer Handicap and Quickstep Handicap, all for three-year-olds and upward; the Latonia Oaks, for three-year-old fillies; the Clipsetta Stakes, for two-year-old fillies, and Cincinnati Trophy, for juvenile colts and geldings. Culminating a hirlwind courtship that began only a few weeks ago in the sporting atmosphere of Miami, Fla., Mrs. Hollis Ryder, sportswoman of, Syracuse, N. Y., has become the bride of Charles H. "Spec" Hainesworth, jockey and trainer. That the couple was married Tuesday at Jefferson-ville, Ind., became known today. Both are 32 years old. Hainsworths bride is the owner of the Kentucky Derby nominee, Blackbirder, and several other horses which Hainesworth brought to Churchill Downs from Florida two weeks ago. Hainesworth is training the horses and may ride them where racing rules permit. H. J. "Dick" Thompson was here Sunday completing arrangements for the transfer of the E. R. Bradley string, headed by the Derby candidates Boxthorn and Big Gawk from Idle Hour Farm. He plans to bring the string here within the next few days and will use the ultra modern barn C. E. Durnell designed and constructed just, outside the Downs several years ago. r Additions to the Dixiana stable include the older performers, Miss Toro, Our Tam, War Band and Hastinola, and the juveniles, Iffy, a gelding by Peter Hastings All Mine; Upholder, a gelding by the same sire but from Highly; Mr. Rix, a son of Bulldog-Sweet Beam, and First Class, a daughter of High Time and Retrograde. Clyde Van Dusen, the Dixiana trainer, was at Churchill Downs much of Sunday morning, when several of the stables members were in action. He stated that Dixianas operations during the Downs meeting may involve every horse in the stable. He has stalls for twenty-six, and will be moving horses between the farm and the Downs throughout the meeting. William E. Smith, W. J. Stallings, Junius Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Ike Weil, and other well known patrons were Sunday visitors at the Downs. Mr. and Mrs. Weil remained over to see several of their horses work Monday morning. . Jockey Leslie Pichon arrived Saturday from the South and guided several horses in workouts Monday morning.
