E.W. BURY OMAHA SECRETARY Arrives in Nebraska City to Take Charge of Preparations for Ak-Sar-Ben Meeting. OMAHA, Neb., April 15. E. W. Bury, Covington, Ky., has been named secretary of Ak-Sar-Bens spring racing meeting, to be held during the thirty-one day period from May 30 to July 4. The appointment was made by the racing committee headed by W. H. Schellberg, chairman. Mr. Bury has arrived here to take active charge of preparations for the revival of racing and is optimistic over prospects of giving Nebraskans another chance to see the sport of kings. He comes direct from the Oaklawn Jockey Club, Hot Springs, Ark., where he conducted a highly successful meeting. The Oaklawn thirty-one day meeting attracted 130,958 paid admissions. At Oaklawn, Mr. Bury was confronted with a problem similar to Ak-Sar-Bens. Arkansas had been raceless for several years, but recent legislation restored the sport, and Mr. Bury had to build anew. He did so fine a job that the Oaklawn Racing Committee has re-engaged him for the 1936 season. Mr. Bury has been secretary at five plants in the Canadian circuit, Kempton Park, De-lorimer Park, Dorval, Ottawa and Fort Erie. In 1931 and 1932 he was secretary at the Havana Jockey Club, Havana, Cuba. The next year he was secretary at Thistle Down, Cleveland, Ohio, and in 1934 served both at the Dayton Jockey Club, Dayton, Ohio, and the Lagoon Jockey Club; Salt Lake City.
