1 TANF0RAN TURF NOTES $ : Two new patrol judges stands are being built on the back stretch. One is situated at the half-mile post, the other at the three-quarters chute. The stands will be glassed in and protect the patrol judge when the wind blows down the back stretch. Jockey Dan Summers, who was injured Saturday when he fell from the plater Burning Feet, plans to resume riding Thursday. He incurred a fractured nose and a sprained neck. The two-year-olds which were sent up to join the Pasadena Stable are named Dunge-ness and Humber. Both are non-starters, which came up from Jack Atkins San Ysidro Ranch. Marvin Douran, 16, of Blackfoot, Idaho, was granted a jockeys license. The youngster is under contract to Ivan Pollard and will make his saddle debut soon. Mrs. W. T. Westrope yesterday purchased Merry Go Round from Mrs. M. Weideman at private terms. Two trainers licenses were granted Wednesday, one to J. Fox, trainer of Don Marcus; the other to Ralph Sievers, who has Lieut. Kelly under his direction. A jockeys license was issued to D. B. Hogue, 18, from Garden Grove, Calif. He is under contract to F. L. Hack and is expected to ride here shortly. Lonnie Copenhaver has taken over the conditioning of Dunlin Lady and Silver Kiev for Reggie Smith of Vancouver, B. C. J. W. Harris, owner of Brown Idyll, who was severely injured when struck by Inheritor the other day, passed away at Mills Memorial hospital, Monday. Harris made his home in Pleasanton and was about 65 years old. Jockey G. Burns was suspended for five days for causing a jam on the first turn in the seventh race Wednesday. Burns was astride Rome Vennie. Johnny Loftus, the former star reinsman, has been engaged to train the two-year-old Promising Bill for Julius Wilde, the San Francisco sportsman. Loftus also has Deer Fly "for Wilde.
