McLENNANS UNIQUE RECORD Writes Conditions and Allots Weights in Sixteen Hundred or More Races and Handicaps. ARLINGTON, Texas, April 2. Charles J. McLennan, racing secretary for the Texas Jockey Club at Arlington Downs and who recently compiled the second issue of the condition book, covering the period from April 6 to April 15, enjoys some sort of a record. In fact, McLennans record might easily attain a Robert Ripley "Believe-It-Or-Not" status. The book was distributed to horsemen today. During the working period of twelve months in which McLennan serves as racing secretary at Arlington Downs, Hialeah Park, Arlington Park, Washington Park and Havre de Grace, he compiles the conditions and handicaps the weights for no less than 1,600 races. The events range all the way from lowly claiming heats to major handicaps. McLennans success as racing secretary since he assumed the majority of duties formerly held by his late father, "Little Joe" McLennan, bears out the predictions of turf enthusiasts, owners, trainers and patrons alike, that Charles would develop into one of the cleverest handicappers and secretaries in the racing world.
