1 BOWIE TURF NOTES s Improved transportation facilities reacted favorably in the mutuel play, which showed a decided increase over last year on the opening day. The pool for the first race was 2,008, against 9,395 for last year. The "Daily Double" showed 3,840 against 1,550. L. Stanley Kahn entertained a party of friends at luncheon Wednesday. He arrived from Miami via airplane and will remain a few days before proceeding to New York. Guy Lombardo, orchestera leader, accompanied by Johnnie OConner, was among the clubhouse crowd Wednesday. Congressman Christy Sullivan deserted Washington for the opening. The division of the Greentree Stable here in charge of John Gaver will remain for the full meeting. Jockey F. Mauro was suspended for rough riding in the first race and E. De Camillas in the second race. Both boys will spend the remainder of the meeting on the ground. Condition books for the spring meeting of the Metropolitan Jockey Club were distributed by Jack Campbell. A. Dyson, with Holland and Bokie B., R. C. Watts with Grayman, Rustic Joe and Twidgets, H. Yorke with one, and T. Quinlan with two, were arrivals from New Orleans. Weights for the Paumonok Handicap, opening day fixture at Jamaica, will be an-nnounced on Saturday by racing secretary Jack Campbell. Jockey Glen Smith arrived from New Orleans and will ride here. A. Li. Redan, with Irish Vote and one other, arrived from the Fair Grounds, New Orleans. Francis Dunne will arrive here Monday after the close of Tropical Park and assume his duties in the secretarys office. Jack Campbell will leave for New York, Saturday evening, on a business trip, re; turning Monday morning.
