11 if i T ill ii i PREPARING FOR MARCHBANK Peninsula Handicap With ,500 Added Preliminary for 0,000 Handicap at Tanforan April 11. SAN MATEO, Calif., April 2. The milo prep for the 0,000 Marchbank Handicap, known as the Peninsula, is slated for next Saturday, April 4. The Marchbank comes a week later, April 11, closing day at Tanforan. This mile race may bring together some of the principal contenders for the March-bank, as it carries a worthwhile purse of ,500 added, and will be the crowning feature of a big afternoon of sport. As the nominations did not close until Tuesday, with weights appearing Thursday, the makeup of the field is problematical. Azucar may venture into this skirmish to insure his stable of his perfection and Arson, Thursday, Slapped and Jovius are likely starters. The latter having stepped up in two straight victories would be meeting better contention than in previous affairs. Ann ORuley may go in place of Top Row, which doesnt require races for fitness. Three-year-bids with light weights are expected to complicate the selecting task. A. C. T. Stock Farm contemplates on trying Indian Broom against the oldsters here and the newly acquired Toration and Plucky Jack. may be among the nominees. Also Regardless has gone well enough to warrant paying the entry fee, goipg with Open Range, three-time sprint winner, which has been known to extend himself a longer distance than six furlongs. It is the fond hope of Tanforan fans that a horse will appear out of this Peninsula Handicap to take the place of Special Agent in the big race.
