KIDNAPERS REPRIEVED SACRAMENTO, Calif., April 25 Alexander MacKay, a British subject, and Joseph Kristy, kidnapers, cheated death Friday, when Governor Merriam granted them a reprieve one hour before their execution was to have taken place. He took action following the request of the British government to Secretary of State Hull to spare MacKay. The stay was granted for thirty days. It is the second granted the pair, who participated in the San Quentin prison break in January, 1935.
