JULIUS REEDERS ASSISTANT Pat Galliger to Assist Hawthornes New Racing Secretary Plenty Horses Available. Julius G. Reeder, veteran racing official, will serve as racing secretary during the coming Hawthorne meeting, which opens May 23. Reeder wired his acceptance to president Albert Sabath of the Chicago Business Mens Racing Association, Friday, and will be here shortly to take over his duties. Reeder will be assisted by Pat Galliger, who has served in that capacity at many major tracks. Reeder long has been connected with leading race tracks here and in Canada, and is an outstanding figure in the racing world. In recent years he has served at Texas tracks and before that was connected with Arlington Park. This will be Reeders first Chicago meeting since that time, although he has a following here. One of the biggest worries that racing secretaries usually have is a lack of enough good thoroughbreds to draw up the programs. Reeder will have no troubles along this line at Hawthorne, for already every stall at the track and at adjacent Sportsmans Park has been spoken for. His first duties will be to draw up and distribute Hawthorne stake blanks. There are five ,000 added stake events and the 5,000 added Chicago Derby on the Hawthorne schedule for the thirty-one day meeting.
