MAY RACE AT PLEAS ANTON SAN MATEO, Calif., April 25. If present plans materialize a fourteen-day race meeting will be held at Pleasanton, Calif., in the fall. Sen. Frank Carr of Oakland is heading a group of east bay sportsmen who are planning to organize a turf club for the purpose of bringing racing back to Alameda County. If the meeting is held it will be in the nature of a fair session and will precede the San Joaquin County Fair at Stockton. The mile track at Pleasanton has for some years past been used as a training track and is in perfect condition. A number of stables on the grounds have also been kept up so in order to run a meeting this fall all that would be required is a grandstand and a few minor improvements to the plant. The Pleasanton track is about eighteen miles from Oakland. Incidentally the management of the Stockton Fair will offer 6,500 in purse money for running and harness races this fall. No purse in running races will be less than 00 and some will have a value of 00 and 00. The Stockton Fair opens August 22. The minimum purse at the Sacramento Fair this fall will be 00.
