1 CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES | $ « Apprentice Albert Morgan was suspended for five days for cutting across his field too sharply soon after the start of the third race. E. F. Woodward, owner of Valdina Farm at Sabinal, Texas, and part-owner of Valdina Farm Stable, arrived from his home at Houston and will remain for the entire meeting. John Marsch, Chicago contractor whose horses are trained by Roscoe Goose, got in Wednesday and will remain until after the running of the Derby. J. Fred Miles, widely known Owensboro oil man, is a visitor. Apprentice N. Leroy Pierson reported ill and was permitted to cancel his engagements. Mrs. Ethel V. Mars, owner of The Fighter, Texas Derby winner, and one of the most pretentious stables here, who is at her Milky Way Farms at Pulaski, Tenn., notified trainer Robert McGarvey that she would be here Thursday. Mrs. Mars will entertain one of the largest Kentucky Derby parties. Jockey Eddie Arcaro escaped injury when he was tossed from Crowning Glory when the horse attempted to bolt at the start of the fifth race Wednesday. a
