MURPHY DETROIT ARRIVAL DETROIT, Mich., May 12.— Judge Joseph A. Murphy, who serves as director of racing during the Detroit season which gets under way Saturday, May 23, arrived from Chicago and will supervise the compiling of the nominations for the Detroit Derby. Nominations for this 5,000 added prize, which has its third running Saturday, June 13, closes Friday, May 15. Judge Murphy was greatly pleased with the list of entries and stated that practically every leading three-year-old of the year has been named for the mile and three-sixteenths journey. He found more than 300 horses quartered on the grounds and applications for more stalls than are available at the Fair Grounds course.
