ROCKINGHAM PARK NOTES j $ _ Ralph "Babe" Rubenstein, announcer at Rockingham, arrived on the scene Friday from Churchill Downs, where he took in the Kentucky Derby. Rubenstein will be in charge of the loudspeaker controls at the spring and fall meetings of the New Hampshire Jockey Club. James I. Bush, president of the New Hampshire Jockey Club, new owners of Rockingham, was an arrival from New York city. Earl Porter, popular jockey, will ride for the stable of John Hay Whitney. The string of the international sportsman, headed by the handicap star Singing Wood, is expected the latter part of the week. Trainer W. Norton will be in charge of the Whitney division here. Managing director Lou Smith viewed the Providence Handicap, midweek feature at Narragansett Park. Weston Adams, director of Suffolk Downs, Bruins Cubs and Boston Bees baseball team, will campaign his small string of thoroughbreds at the spring session. Included in the Adams string are Col. Greene, Gallant Gay and Conservative. Lyman Brusie trains the Adams colorbearers. Jesse Burke has the former handicap performer Flying Cadet back in training. A large tract of land is being cleared beyond the clubhouse for a parking area which will accommodate 7,000 cars. In addition, a parking space for 1.000 cars has been completed in the area of Pleasant street. Closing day for the seven stakes to be contested during the spring meeting — May 25 to June 13— is May 16. Horsemen are advised to mail all entries to racing secretary H. D. "Jim" Monroe, Rockingham Park.
