HAWTHORNE TURF NOTES C. W. Hay, general manager of the Chi-! cago Business Mens Racing Association, was j an arrival from Kentucky and assumed his , duties Monday morning. George "Buddy Wingfield and his crew of assistants began schooling Sunday morn-; ing and had quite a flocJc of newcomers to ■ racing taking lessons. Ernie White, manager of the mutuel department, arrived from Rhode Island and immediately went to work arranging details for the handling of wagers. Several of his assistants also arrived. Frank Miller, who is somewhat of a handy-andy around the track, and who will serve as custodian of the jockey room, has his department ready to be opened on a moment s notice. B. B. Williams, trainer for the Calumet Farm, has one of the most extensive strings of juveniles now quartered at Hawthorne. * He has twenty-three youngsters that he is preparing for racing. George Swain, one of the patrol judges and attache of the racing secretarys office, will accept entries at Aurora Friday for the opening days program at Hawthorne. Les "Red Miller departs Tuesday for Detroit, where he will serve as the outrider during the meeting in the Michigan city. Jimmy Nolan, who rode so well during the Texas season, is on hand and will iide for Jack Carter during the meeting.
