PROTESTS CAMERA DECISION NEW YORK, N. Y., May 18.— Charled Bacharach, owner of the Southland Stable, announced his intention of protesting the awarding of the purse in the third race to Mahdi. This was the finish in which the camera was called upon to give the decision, and the race was awarded Sage Stables Mahdi, with William Duponts Fairy Hill second and the Bacharach starter, Above Par, third. The photograph, in the opinion of the New Orleans sportsman, as well as many others, made it apparent that Above Par finished first. Unfortunately, whatever the decision may be in this protest, it can have no effect on wagers, for the finish as proclaimed by the placing judges was confirmed by the stewards, making that finish official.
