ROCKINGHAM PARK NOTES I - 4 L. Carters Black Gift, four-vear-old Ed Crump colt, winner of the Philadelphia Handicap at Havre de Grace last month, arrived Monday in the John Hay Whitney shipment. Black Gift has been nominated for the va- 1 rious stakes and handicaps of the spring 1 session. Mrs. J. Chesneys Professor Paul, Justice F. gelding, headed the shipment of thoroughbreds that arrived in a special train from I Chicago. Included in the shipment were 1 eight members of the Chesney string, along with the stable of Jesse Burke. Three horses, the property of C. L. Gerling, j Pimlico, Md., horseman, arrived by van. They included Hasty Peter, Buckminster and i Roycrof ter. Sleek thoroughbreds are working out daily over the Rockingham strip. The horse colony has increased with the arrival of the stables of John Hay Whitney, J. Chesney and Jesse Burke. The Waite gate, which will be used instead of the Bahr gate, arrived Monday. Starter Bob Frend began the schooling Monday. P. A. Shaw, Newton, Mass., sportsman, has nominated his handicap star, Gov. Sholtz, in the Decoration Day Handicap. ,500 added feature for three-year-olds and upward, May 30. Gov. Sholtz, four-year-old son of Toro, has shown several good efforts this season, and owner Shaw is confident that his colorbearer will be right up there at the finish of the Decoration Day feature. Among the chief innovations listed for this seasons racing at Rockingham Park is the camera finish, the installation of which was started Monday. Charles Waite, inventor of ! the photo finish that is to be used at the I local track, arrived here Sunday. The Columbia Broadcasting Company is negotiating with Ralph "Babe Rubenstein, ; Rockingham announcer, to broadcast next years running of the Kentucky Derby and j Pimlico Preakness. Rubenstein will be at Mm controls for the spring session here. To take care of the demand for private boxes, twelve new ones have been con-Istructed at the clubhouse.
