DEAD HEAT PAY-OFF The mutuel payoff on the dead heat at Narragansett Park in the sixth race, Monday, May 18. was as shown in the chart of the race. 1 Straight mutuel odds on a dead heat are figured the same as place pay-off in an ordinary race. In wagers made away from the track the chart prices should prevail if track odds were offered and ac- ! 1 1 cepted. Where house odds were accepted, the procedure should be as follows: If was bet on each horse and 2 to 1 laid on Sun Apollo, the payoff should be .50 to the bettor and .50 to the layer; if 4 to 1 was laid on Steelhead, the pay-off should be .50 to the player and .50 to the layer. The amount of money bet plus the odds laid with the total divided equally between the bettor and layer is the regular method of pay-off in dead heats where bookmaking odds prevail.
