SWIFT STAKES AT BELMONT Several Withers Candidates to Meet in Todays Feature at Big Nassau County Track. NEW YORK, N. Y, May 18.— For a feature offering at Belmont Park Tuesday afternoon the Westchester Association has the Swift, a seven furlongs dash confined to the three-year-olds, and one of the many I inheritances from the old Coney Island Jockey Club that had such big importance j in New York racing with its Sheepshead Dav course. For this renewal eleven have been named and should all go to the post, as is expected, with its ,000 in added money it will gross ,250. There are three teams in this field. Mrs. Isabel Dodge Sloane is represented by Delphinium, recent conqueror of Red Rain and a colt heading for the Withers, as well as i Clocks. A. G. Vanderbilt is represented by j Postage Due and Speed to Spare, while Pull- | man, that races for the Sage Stable, and Goldeneye, from the stable of Mrs. F. Ambrose Clark, are also coupled. John Hay Whitney has the greatly improved Mr. Bones j as his colorbearer, and William Ziegler, Jr., | will send out Wha Hae. Others are the Maemere Stablos Maeriel, the top weight under the conditions; Edward R. Bradleys Bow to Me, and Edward Bruners Aneroid. Delphinium, by reason of his defeat of Red Rain and his known present excellent | condition, will probably be the choice of this company. The son of Blue Larkspur is a j colt of high speed and the seven furlongs is much to his liking. Sunday his final was B handy mile in 1:45%, and the Swift should be an excellent step leading up to the With- I ers, Saturday, when he will be raced against Brevity and Red Rain. Mr. Bones, the son of Royal Minstrel and Rinkey, has impressed greatly and he is another that is intended for the Withers, should j his performance Tuesday afternoon warrant j sending him to the post in that old mile feature. Both Speed to Spare and Postage Due, the Vanderbilt team, and well suited at the distance, and Pullman has been showing becoming form this spring. Altogether the renewal of the Swift holds out promise of a worthy race. ♦
