[ BOLD VENTURE OUT OF j J ILLINOIS DERBY j AURORA, 111., May 18.— In a long distance telephone conversation with Max Hirsch, trainer of M. L. Schwartz Bold Venture, winner of the Kentucky Derby and Preak-ness Stakes, it was learned by president R. S. Eddy, Jr., of the Fox Valley Jockey Club, that the crack three-year-old will not be shipped to Illinois for the running of the 2,000 added Illinois Derby Friday. However, Hirsch stated that he intended to send Split Second, which he nominated for the King Ranch, to fulfill the engagement in the stake. Announcement that Bold Venture would not be among the contestants had a tendency to make the race an open affair. Among the three-year-olds nominated for the Illinois Derby now quartered either at Aurora or Hawthorne are the following: Count Morse. Infidox, Bright Light, Ceal-laigh, Split Second, Rushaway, Sir Gawaine, Honored Sir, Bow and Arrow, The Fighter! Sangreal. Doran, Dnieper, Brilliant Light, Higher Cloud, Blind Pig. Flavor, Just Frank! My Auntie, Reaping, Holl Image, Jaber, Car-vela, Lolschen and Flag Cadet.
