MELODIST began slowly, but improved his position steadily on the outside, responded to urging and yrore down SAVAGE in the. final strides. The latter forced a fast pace from the start, responded to urging and held on well. JOCULATOR slipped through : on the inside in the early running, showed speed and held ori well. WINNING CHANCE bore out slightly at the turn and lost ground after showing early speed. SUN-PHANTOM moved up with good courage in the stretch and held on well. HARVESTING closed steadily on the outside after being bothered in the early running. BAGPIPE broke in a tangle at the break and raced forwardly thereafter. STARAWAY closed ground steadily under urging. DEVILS PACE was fractious at the post, but raced well. DRAWBRIDGE closed some ground. SOPHIA TUCKER quit. REGAL LILY was on the inside all the way. GOOD GAMBLE was rushed into command after the break, drew: away into a safe lead, was rated along steadily thereafter and was not persevered with at the finish. ROMAN SOLDIER broke fast but was quickly outrun, , was placed under pressure rounding the" far turn, to maintain his position, was again placed under pressure in the stretch and outlasted ANN ORULEY in the final strides. The latter was under restraint the first part, moved up fast in the stretch and would have been third in a few more strides. PALMA bore out badly entering the stretch, losing much ground. ABNER was rushed into command after the start, drew away into a long lead rounding the far turn, but tired badly at the end. THORSON showed early speed, but quit badly.
