MAJOR GREENOCK, forced to race wide throughout and under strong riding from the start, gradually improved his position in the final half mile and, wearing down BONNIE DREAM, appeared ready to draw out. The latter, under snug restraint until reaching the final quarter, slowly shook off OUR PATTY and held on well, though failing to withstand the winner. OUR PATTY, saving ground throughout, showed speed from the start, but tired in the drive. UNCLE MIKE, rank at the post where he was placed outside the stalls and away slowly, showed a good effort under strong handling. IMPERIAL PAL lost ground. STOLEN COLOR was cut off on the far turn and showed nothing thereafter. CAPTAIN JEFFERS was placed outside the stalls at the start. BATTING EYE quit. APPREHEND, well up from the start and raced wide early, took command approaching the stretch, crossed to the inside when clear and, continuing strongly, held sway thereafter. RED FLYER, poorly handled and taken back when leaving the back stretch, lost much ground on the stretch turn, repeatedly swerved to the inside when punished in the last three-sixteenths and tired near the end. PLAYMASTER had speed from the start, saved ground throughout and came again after being cut off by RED FLYER in the stretch. CAPTAIN JOY, under strong handline, showed an even effort. JOCKANA opened up a long lead under energetic riding, swerved out in the stretch and tired after five-eighths, but outstayed PRINCE JOHN. Th latter raced wide the last three-eighths and faltered in the drive. DEETS CAMPFIRE saved ground. OGEE, under a timid ride, failed to display its usual late speed. THREAT lacked speed. The latter, also in hand early and losing much ground, failed to withstand the winners rush soon after reaching the stretch, but fought it out stubbornly in a long drive, though failing to get up. SUNNED came with a rush on the outside "in the final quarter. LADY THATCHER, in close quarters soon after reaching the stretch, closed well when clear. DING BIN tired in the drive. THREADNEEDLE took a position in the run to the first turn, was rated along under reserve for seven-eighths and stood a mild drive gamely.. HOLL IMAGE came strongly on the stretch turn and stood a drive gamely while racing on the inside in the final quarter. UNDERSTAND closed boldly in a fine effort. CORINTO, on the inside throughout and sliehtly forced back on the second turn, failed to rally when placed to punishment. CHASAR began very slowly. SPANISH BABE failed to keep up. GYRAL quit. DONNAHONA, wolf up from the start but in close quarters on the far turn, was taken to the outside approaching the stretch and, standing a mild drive gamely, outstayed MAD FRUMP. The latter, far back for five-eighths, began to improve his position fast when racing on the outside on the stretch turn and also stood pressure gamely, but could not get up. JULIA GRANT forced the early pace under restraint, took command gradually approaching the stretch and, while failing to withstand the leaders, held on well to the last eighth before tiring. HIT AND RUN could not get up. BLACK RIVER displayed early speed. SORCERY had no mishaps and was never a threat. Scratched 27889 Darkling, 111. BLUE HOUR, away slowly and taken to the niside, slipped through several small openings when improving his position approaching the stretch and, soon after reaching the final quarter, came around MAREVE and JUSTA SHEIK in the final sixteenth and won drawing out. MAREVE, under stout restraint for three-quarters, stood a long drive gamely. JUSTA SHEIK bettered his position gradually, but tired near the end. WILD TRANSIT, probably best and taken back repeatedly when failing to get through, came with a rush in the stretch. DONAU went well. BONNIE MARITA was far out in the track throughout, dropped back suddenly entering the stretch, but came aeain. BANK ME and STAR DIXIE quit.
