The latter larked early speed, moved up gamely on the outside in the stretch run and finished gamely. KRAKERJAC started slowly and, far back early, worked his way up gradually and was going well at the end. TOPWAY. hustled into the lead at the first turn, drew away in the back stretch and, holding on well, easily held the balance safe. SCIMITAR, in close quarters at the first turn and far back early, moved up gradually on the outside and was going well at the end. ATHANETTE lacked her usual early speed, saved ground in the back, stretch, came on the inside in the last eighth and finished gamely. The latter, far back early, gained gradually on the outside, took the lead in the stretch, but hung in the final drive. COUNTESS BYE. outrun early but saving ground on the inside, closed with a rush in the stretch and finished gamely. WESTKO lacked early speed, was bothered by DR. SPOON on the lower turn, came fast when straightened out in the stretch and closed well. OIL QUEEN showed early speed, but tired badly. DEE DEE W. has had too much racing. DONNAPEEP tired. DIXIE DAN, allowed to drop far back in the first half mile, came with a rush on the outside in the stretch and was going fastest at the end. GALLIENNE, much the best, started slowly and was forced to race on the outside to enter contention, raced past DARIA in the stretch and, drawing away, won easily. DARIA, fractious at the post, delayed the start several minutes, broke well and set a fast early pace, saved ground all the way, but was tiring at the end. SERAPHIC KNIGHT, prominent in the early running, held on gamer than usual and outlasted GREAT LOVER. The latter started slowly, slipped through on the inside entering the stretch and finished gamely. MY DAINTY, well placed in the early running, dropped back on the lower turn, came to the outside in the stretch to finish well. Scratched 27671 Sleepy Joe, 106; 27545 Mica Rock, 101.
