HAPPY HOST broke close up, moved to the front with a rush reaching the far turn, drew clear and was never threatened thereafter. FORTUITY forced the pace from the start and held on well under severe punishment through the last quarter. MAKALAW dropped back rounding the far turn and came on again under pressure in the last eighth while slipping through on the inner rail. AERIALIST suffered slight interference when QUICK RELIEF lost its rider, moved into contention, but tired again right at the end. ARGUEFICATION, rated behind the pace to the stretch head, slipped through on the inner rail and easily drew away at the. end. TAKE OFF began fast, drew clear rounding the far turn, but commenced tiring in the last eighth and bore out from the inner rail. SALLANDRY gained steadily while racing on the outside around the turn, was forced still wider in the .stretch, but finished with rare courage. BLACK BESS, used up chasing the pacemaker, tired in the last part. CANANA raced evenly at all times. BROTHER NEWT, shuffled back at the start, closed much ground. HOOSIC MAID had no excuses. MOON ROSE, saving ground at all times, forced all the pace, took the lead midway of the back stretch, and held on well under hard urging to hold off MINE BOY. The latter, well back for the first three-quarters, secured an opening next to the inner rail coming into the stretch, closed fast and was slowly wearing the winner down. PLAYMORE, well placed during the early running, moved up rounding the turn, but was forced wide and finished gamely, but could not reach the first two. OUR SHIP, rushed along at all times to keep up with the pace, quit when called upon for the final issue. LINE OF FIRE showed a flash of speed midway of the back stretch. LUCK IN quit badly after displaying much speed for seven-eighths. MR. BILL dropped right out of contention and was eased up in the last half mile. Scratched 28500Goldon Watch, 105; 28496 Mahi, 107. GENERAL A. steadily improved his position while racing on the outside, caught the leaders well in the stretch and drew up steadily to outgame TIGER JOHN. The latter slipped through on the inner rail at the stretch turn, secured command, but could not hold the winner off. ALS PRIDE, in close quarters on the turn, finished well when clear. PADDYS SISTER made up some ground to pass tiring horses. SUNNY SUSAN displayed keen speed for a half mile, bore out slightly rounding the turn and tired fast in the last quarter. LOUISE showed a good even race at all times while well up with the pace.. CHIEF HOLLIS quit after showing some speed in the early stages. SAN MARINO had no excuses. MORLUTE followed the pacemaker at all times, responded well to hard urging, steadily wore down the former to win going away in the last few strides. BEDIGHT sprinted into a good lead in the first -quarter, but its effort told in the last furlong, tiring right at the end. UPPERCUT, forced to race wide most of the trip, made up some ground in the last quarter. MISS GINBAR met slight trouble while making her move on the far turn, was forced wide entering the stretch and finished strongly. STIPULATE finished with a belated rush. ADAMS EVE quit after going five-eighths. DOUGLAS F., awav well, quit as if in need of a race. BLAST, unruly at the gate, left in a tangle, trailed the field until reaching the middle of the stretch turn, closed with a big rush on the outside and caught the leader a few yards from the finish to win. SWEETBROOM followed the pacemaker until midway of the back stretch, then took command and opened up what appeared to be a winning lead, but could not hold its advantage at the end. SOUND MONEY, racing under mild restraint, was within striking distance of the leaders at all times and closed some ground under hard pressure. MISS ALPHONSO, bothered when WISHING STAR wheeled at the gate, could never reach contention. IRA L. quit badly after going a half mile. WISHING STAR wheeled when the break came. SIR THOMAS, also slow to begin, was sent up fast midway of the far turn, secured a brief lead in the stretch, but hung when the final issue came. NIMULE, a forward factor at all times, disposed of BLANDISHMENT on the turn, but hung after getting into command. BARCARDI SWEEP, well back for most of the trip, made up some ground.
