f TANF0RAN TURF NOTES $ r Jockey W. J. Reeve, a recent arrival from New York, is another booter expected to figure prominently in the saddle here this meeting. Under contract to J. W. March-bank, California sportsman and breeder, he was loaned to Col. E. R. Bradley during the summer as Mr. Marchbanks stable was rested preparatory to a fall campaign. Still another bright saddle star who will ride here this season is jockey Bobby Jones, who severed his connections with the J. H. Whitney stable last summer to be with his father, A. L. Jones, who was critically ill at home at San Ysidro, Calif., but who since has recovered. The Rancho San Luis Rcy Stable is now negotiating for Jones services this season. Among the recent arrivals at Tanforan is the five-horse stable of Harry Fields, well-known western turfman. He checked in from Detroit with Easy Sailing, Blind Blarney. Notice Me, Patch Eye and Lillee. The stable of Jack Carter embracing sixteen horses, which will come here, includes Holl Image, Money Getter, Illcanna, Look-about, Sky Pirate, Rainy Weather, Phalazet-ta, War Games, Headiiner, Close Call, Old Judge, Tidewater, Peace River, Master Buck, Chicasha and Colonels Miss. Holl Image and Sky Pirate are owned by the Superior Stable, while the remainder of the horses are owned by trainer Jack Carter and his partner, N. G. Gibbons of Los Angeles. Jockey Johnny Nolan will do the stables riding. Clyde Phillips, former trainer for W. R. Coe of New York, and who developed the famed Ladysman, got in with eight horses from New York. The string consists of Moss Gal, Earnings, Cathy P., Carlesta, Pipes Pal and Cobc. Trainer Russ McGirr brought in three horses for Tom Donley of Hollywood, In the Phillips car. They were Arson, Bernard K. and Distracting. McGirr will pick up the two-year-old Hennessey, which was fired last winter and rested in California during the summer. The Mayfield Stable, trained by Willie Causey, brought in five horses, Kingsbury, Redress. Full Tilt, Lonmeg and Sa Ele, all hard-hitting, useful thoroughbreds. Racing secretary Julius Reedcr also checked in after a leisurely 3,900 mile trip from Quebec, via the various racing centers of the country. Jockeys Allen Gray and Jimmy Nolan arrived and immediately reported to their stables. Gray will ride first string for the Hynes and Bcezlcy stable and he will have the leg up on Blue Boot in her stake engagements for the meeting. Nolan, who rides for the extensive Jack Carter stable, is a newcomer to Tanforan and comes West with a reputation of being a finished rider. Another saddle ace New to local racegoerswho will be seen in colors here is Tyrus Mcloche, leading rider at the recent Detroit meeting and whose contract wa3 purchased by Charles S. Howard, San Francisco sportsman and breeder. Like Choj-nacki, Moloche is an apprentice rider and is entitled to the" five pound allowance.
