f EPSOM DOWNS TURF NOTES f s : : $ E. Bloomquest joined the ranks of owners at Epsom Downs when he purchased the three-year-old bay gelding Forced Landing, a recent winner here, from Mrs. V. Wyse. The terms of the transaction were private. "Chicoo" Rodriguez, former jockey, was an arrival from the Middle West and plans to remain in Texas until the opening of the winter racing season in New Orleans, which gets under way Thanksgiving Day at the Fair Grounds. Unable to return to his post of assistant starter for the balance of the meeting, Wesley Freeman, because of a broken arm, has decided to return to his home in Dallas Thursday and remain there until the inauguration of the Arlington Downs season October 22. Contracts filed with A. G. Davidson of apprentice riders, which must be forwarded to the secretary of the Texas Racing Commission for copies to be made, have been returned to the state representative, and owners of the documents can get the originals by contacting Davidson at the office of the racing secretary at Epsom Downs. Eleven yearlings sired by Nusakan, which is at presenF competing in races at Epsom Downs, and Braedelbane, will be shipped from the Carlock, 111., farm of W. A. Mikcl next month to the Fair Grounds in New Orleans, according to Bill Johnson, trainer of the Mikcl string, to be broken and prepared for racing in the Crescent City. The youngsters are reputed to be a promising looking lot. Apprentice Joe Tinker departed Tuesday night by motor for River Downs to report to his contract employer Milton Reiser at the Cincinnati track. The youngster was accompanied by William Loefflcr on the trip.
