OLD NICK, away fast, set a good pace under steadying restraint, lost some ground entering the stretch, but continued in game fashion to outstay JONNIE NUCHOLS. The latter improved his position rapidly when urged, came through on the inside and showed a good effort. LONESOME PINE was well up for most of the way, then pulled up lame after the race. HIGH HATTER, under strong restraint in the early stages, improved Ins position rapidly after five-eighths, came around the leaders in the last quarter and held BARCARDI SWEEP safe in the drive. The latter was rated off the pace, moved up with a rush on the rail, but could not overtake the winner in the drive. ZARABI was sent to the front with a rush after a half mile, then faltered in the last three-sixteenths. SOL- HAWK set the early pace under restraint, tame again after rounding the stretch turn, then tired in the last sixteenth. JUST IMAGINE was through early.
