MOUNT ROYAL TURF NOTES I . $ Jockey Fl Smock, who has been in the employ of trainer T. Quinlan for the Quebec season, departs for Chicago Friday to be on hand for the opening of Sportsmans Park. Smock rides at 105 pounds and will ride as a free lance there. F. Lanctot, local valet, and family, wish to express their appreciation for the kindness and generosity of the employes and officials of Mount Royal in their recent bereavement. C. N. Withers shipped the home-bred Arbranch to Long Branch Tuesday night. E. Decaires Don Carlos accompanied the shipment. Jockey R. Moore, who has been doing the riding for the above stables, also left to do the piloting in Toronto. Line of Fire pulled up sore Wednesday morning and upon the advice of the tract veterinarian was excused from the fifth event by the stewards. i it 1 j i
