Won easily; second and third driving. PETTY TAW had excellent speed from the start, raced along smoothly under steadying restraint, saved ground throughout and drew out without effort. JUDGE BARKLEY lacked early speed, was under restraint around the turn, came to the outside and closed very fast. ASSIST, forced to race on the outside while in close attendance of the pace, made his bid approaching the final turn and "hung in the final eighth, HOUSE BABY followed the early pace closely while on the inside and held on well. AUNT MYRTLE had no excuses. FOR ROMANCE tired steadily in the final eighth. FRANK P. dropped back right after the start. Overweight Assist, 3 pounds; House Baby, 1; Abby B., 11. OLD ELI, away fast but under restraint in the run through the back stretch, moved up quickly on the turn, was taken to the inside, came wide when VAN NUYS challenged and was taken to the inside again in the final eighth and withstood a hard drive. VAN NUYS, also under restraint early, advanced steadily on the outside approaching the stretch turn, was forced wide by the winner and was slowly wearing him down. SUN PETAL lacked early speed, moved up between horses, was on the inside in the stretch when blocked by the winner and finished between the leaders in a game effort. BATMAN was slow to settle into stride and made up ground gradually on the extreme outside. DISTRACTIBLE was caught in close quarters on the inside right after leaving the back stretch. JOENO had good speed from the start,-v,-as rated in close pursuit of the pace, raced to the front on the inside when called upon turning for home and maintained a clear lead under mild pressure. HENRY M., fractious at the post and placed on the outside, was rushed up on the outside to take command on the stretch turn, came wide into the stretch and held on well. MONON LAD improved his position slowly between horses and held the others easily. MACAWLEE was quickest to begin in a bad start, saved ground in the early stages, came wide in the stretch and tired. LITTLE DRIFT had late speed. MISS WHISKAWAY was through after the opening quarter. TRYANHURRY went into the air at the start. Scratched 35283 Metropole, 105. BILLIES ORPHAN tired after showing a brief flash of speed. SCREEN, well up in the early running, tired badly in the final eighth. ROBERT S. had speed in the opening Quarter. BYRDINE, unable to keep up in the early stages, closed with a belated rush on the inside. JANE was under steady restraint for three-quarters and failed to respond when called upon.
