TWO STAKE FEATURES FOR LAURELS CLOSING DAY Time Supply, Roman Soldier and Others in Washington Handicap Bottle Cap, War Admiral, Billionaire and Other Crack Juveniles in Spalding Lowe Jenkins Handicap Big Crowd Expected to See Final Program LAUREL, Md., Oct. 30. The Washington Handicap and the Spalding Lowe Jenkins Handicap are the two features which will head the seven-race program that will bring to a close the twenty-five day meeting of the Maryland State Fair, Inc., at Laurel Park, on Saturday. The Washington Handicap, which is the most important of the two specials from a monetary viewpoint, is a gallop at one and one-quarter miles for three-year-olds and upward, with 0,000 added. The Jenkins is for two-year-olds at one mile, the prize being ,500. In the Washington, of which this is the twenty-third running, a dozen have been named through the entry box and, while the lateness of the season precludes the possibility of the presence of Granville, Discovery and Top Row, the next high weight among the nominees is present. This is Mrs. F. A. Carreauds Time Supply, which is asked to carry 122 pounds over the ten furlongs. Time Supply has received hl3 conditioning over the Laurel course, being specially pointed for the closing day feature. He rounded out his training moves by breezing nine furlongs in 1:55. AZUCAR IN FORM. Next in line in the matter of weights comes F. M. Alger, Jr.s, Azucar, which has been allotted 118 pounds. Azucar has had improving races over the track, and can be expected to be brought to the Washington Handicap in peak condition. Elwood Sachsenmaiers Roman Soldier, under 117 pounds, is another that has been conditioned locally for the special. His fitness was attested when he went a corking mile in 1:40, in handy fashion, in preparation for this engagement. Mrs. Emil Denemark has named Finance and Corinto, both winners at the meeting, and this pair get in under 115 and 112 pounds, respectively. Finance galloped the Washington Handicap distance in 2:10, in preparation for Saturday3 test. Greentree Stable has named Memory Book, which missed a head decision to Floradora in the Maryland Handicap at ten furlongs last Saturday. The other six entries get in under light weights, but for this very reason, any of them might be dangerous. CRACK JUVENILE FIELD. Despite the proximity of the Pimlico Futurity, the Jenkins has attracted a field of eleven juveniles that is certain to produce a thrilling tussle. The Millsdale Stables Bottle Cap, which scored in the Richard Johnson Handicap early in the meeting is asked to carry top weight of the field under 121 pounds, one pound more than Glen Riddle Farms War Admiral, which he defeated in their last meeting. The Johnson was, however, contested over a muddy track. War Admiral has the Eastern Shore Handicap at Havre de Grace to his credit. The son of Man o War rounded out his training for the Jenkins with a handy mile in 1:41. E. R. Bradley has named three, Billionaire, Biologist and Brooklyn. The former proved a disappointment in the Belmont Futurity after displaying keen speed and has a chance to atone, while Biologist has excellent races to recommend him. Brooklyn won a mile race at Laurel as recently as last Wednesday. Manhasset Stables White Tie is a recent stake winner at Keeneland. Mrs. C. S. Bromleys Sun Phantom has trained exceptionally well and gets in under only 105 pounds. Saturday is the ninth running of the Jenkins. The Colonial Handicap, at one mile and one-sixteenth, tops the supporting card on the final day.
