HOUR RAP, well rated in the early running, moved up fast on the outside after leaving the back stretch and held IMPERIAL BILL to the end. The latter, probably best, was forced to take back several times in the first half mile when he attempted to get through on the inside of BUNCH BOY, then came to the outside in the last quarter, but was bothered by HOUR RAP coming out a trifle and attempting to bear in, could not head the latter, and was taken in hand in the closing strides when beaten. SHASTA DREAM lacked early speed and raced wide, but finished fastest of all. BUNCH BOY dashed to the front early to set the pace, but tired in the stretch. HILO had speed for five-eighths. The others were never dangerous. Scratched 22867 Carbon, 106. Overweight Imperial Bill, 2 pounds. Corrected weight Imperial Bill, 111. SECOND RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. MISS BALKO went to the front at once and, showing good speed, held sway to the end, but was doing her best to hold PROUD INDIAN safe. The latter was never far away and, closing gamely under urging, was pressing the winner at the end. TRENT handled his weight well and finished in courageous fashion.
